Ionomr, Canada’s leading next-gen ion-exchange membrane manufacturer, takes its production capabilities to the next level

Vancouver, BC - Ionomr Innovations has launched construction of its new lab and office space on UBC grounds on January 16, 2018.  The new lab space includes state of the art R&D, advanced quality control and production facilities and equipment. Ionomr is expected to significantly expand capacity to supply product and co-develop solutions for over 100 companies it is currently engaging with as well as the ever-expanding energy storage market amid mandated renewable energy targets across the globe.

“New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Cuomo kicked off 2018 with a series of clean energy proposals, including a groundbreaking energy storage pledge: to deploy 1,500 megawatts by 2025 as the state works toward 50 percent renewable energy by 2030. The target came just a month after he signed a bill to create a storage deployment program” - GreenTech Media

Ionomr’s new facility will serve as a primary location for R&D capabilities, as well as collaboration with leading SFU and UBC researchers to further advance the technology and move into larger scale production of membranes. It will expand Ionomr’s polymer production capabilities to the multi-tonne scale in-house, which is further complemented by existing supply and production relationships to continue supply well in excess of this capacity. In addition to the lab, the renovated space will serve as Ionomr’s headquarters, business centre and collaboration space.

“Laboratory space is becoming tremendously difficult to come by in Vancouver and we are extremely fortunate to have found space within an advanced technology hub such as UBC. We will have occupancy by March 1st and are already extremely eager to get in there to meet rapidly scaling customer demand” – Ben Britton, CEO

Ionomr designs, adapts, and manufactures ion exchange membranes, separators, and coatings for growth-stage and emergent applications in energy storage and clean energy generation as well as established water treatment applications.
