RES offers delivery of customized solutions for utility scale battery storage projects. RES can cover all phases of the project, besides being an OEM, from planning and engineering over construction, operation and asset management until decommissioning.

RES has evaluated over 130 battery and energy storage product developers and manufacturers to-date covering a wide range of technologies including battery designs based on various lithium chemistries, flow and hybrid flow batteries, zinc-air, aqueous sodium, high temperature (NaS and NaNi) and advanced lead acid. This knowledge of multiple technologies and our technology agnostic approach mean that RES is uniquely positioned to design the appropriate and optimal storage solution. Our strong relationships with manufacturers, global purchasing power, and experience delivering over 12GW of utility scale generation assets mean that we can deliver these solutions at least cost.

RES’ energy storage solutions are customised to meet the demands of any customer and bolstered by our industry leading expertise in development, engineering, construction, operations, finance and project ownership in over 12 GW of utility scale projects. RES uses only certified, long-life, high-efficiency, and UL*-listed battery cells from a range of suppliers to meet the specific power demands of our clients. Since RES is technology agnostic, we can respond to unique client needs while incorporating state-of the-art battery technology into the final design.


RESolve is RES’ advanced energy response operating system platform. The application is incorporated through every level of the battery system, and its standards-based architecture allows for a least-cost procurement approach to improve asset life and reduce operating costs. RES’ extensive experience with grid connected generation feeds in to RESolve to provide an array of grid support and protection management capabilities to keep the energy storage system online safely for longer. RESolve is simple and intuitive to use, as is designed to communicate with existing network management platforms, making it easy to monitor and control from network control centres.

RESolve Energy Management System

RESolve has been developed in-house at RES using expertise built up over multiple energy storage projects and decades of renewables experience. RESolve is intelligent control that’s so versatile it can perform over ten services to control and optimise energy storage plus maximise revenue streams. 
RES’ engineers who developed RESolve have an unrivalled understanding of batteries from both a technical and commercial viewpoint. Their knowledge is based upon terabytes of data collected from RES storage projects across the globe. This naturally leads to constant system upgrades to enable better management of the battery life and reduce degradation across a wide variety of battery chemistry types. RESolve is also future-proofed to enable communication across a storage portfolio to maximise efficiency.

RESolve will seamlessly integrate with standard utility scale control room software (including GE PowerOn™ Fusion) to manage networks. RESolve can be monitored without specialist software in real-time, anywhere there is an internet connection.

RES completes its first UK Energy Storage project

RES (Renewable Energy Systems) has successfully completed its first UK-based industrial-scale battery storage facility at a 1.5MW solar park south of Glastonbury, in Somerset.RES has delivered the battery energy storage system (BESS) under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for Western Power Distribution (WPD) as part of a project to explore the provision of ancillary services to a distribution network operator from an embedded battery energy storage system.

A leading global renewable energy company, RES has pioneered energy storage projects in the US and Canada and is now delivering its energy storage expertise at projects across the UK.The 310kVA/668kWh battery storage system RES has delivered for WPD, at a British Solar Renewables (BSR) solar park, is one of the first such projects to be built under a fully wrapped EPC contract in Europe. The combined solar-storage project is connected to WPD’s South West 11kV network, and the BESS will be operated using RESolve, RES’ storage control and dispatch system that will provide 24/7 management of the battery’s operation.

The completion of RES’ first energy storage project in UK solidifies RES’ leadership in the global energy storage sector, as reported in Navigant Research's Leaderboard Report and takes RES’ total contracted energy storage portfolio to 143.6MW / 92MWh, alongside more than 200MW in development.
